The Five Dysfunctions of a Team: A Leadership Fable

by Patrick Lencioni
Jossey Bass, 2002

Lencioni has a short series of similar books addressing the issue of leadership through short fables. This particular book focuses on the ever-important topic of leadership teams. In it he describes the plight of a fictitious CEO who takes over a struggling company with a weak and fractured leadership team. In the story she works hard to build a new culture among her direct reports based on trust, dealing openly with conflict, mutual accountability and focus on results. Following the fable, the author explains more directly his model for building strong leadership teams.
